Box5 Software Announces EnVision V2

Box5 Software Inc. is thrilled to announce the official release of EnVision Visual Performance Design v2 on May 25, 2025. In development for many years, this new version has had a new framework built up around it, designed for rapid iteration, making show design both more intuitive and realistic—while keeping prices affordable. Alongside EnVision v2, we’re launching a redesigned website that conceptually unifies our flagship desktop design software (EnVision) with our mobile viewing app (EnGage). This major release includes a flexible new licensing system, extensive Print Mode and Timeline enhancements, smoother 3D animations (including a new Indoor Arena venue), plus numerous usability improvements.

A New Era for EnVision

Since its original debut in June 2011, EnVision has been the only complete 3D drill‑design environment that combines smooth animation with powerful writing tools. Over the past decade, we’ve listened closely to the marching‑arts community, and EnVision v2 represents the culmination of that feedback:

  • Official Launch Date: May 25, 2025

  • Built on a Next‑Gen Framework: Enables Box5 to deliver feature updates and performance improvements much more rapidly moving forward

  • Intuitive & Realistic: Redesigned UI and underlying engine make both designing and visualizing shows as natural and lifelike as possible

  • Affordable Pricing: Flexible licensing (as short as one month) keeps costs in check for programs of all sizes

Licensing System Overhaul

Our completely rebuilt licensing portal at box5software.com lets you:

  • Easily deactivate/reactivate licenses on demand

  • Transfer licenses between computers without hassle

  • Purchase month‑to‑month or annual terms, starting at just one month

This flexibility ensures you only pay for what you need, when you need it.

Print Mode Improvements

We’ve supercharged Print Mode to give drill writers more control over output:

  1. Locked Page Views by Default

    • Red lock icon and thin red border indicate a locked view

    • Simply toggle off “Lock Page View” in the panel to adjust

  2. In‑Place Set Notes Editing

    • Edit notes directly below the canvas, without leaving Print Mode

  3. Expanded Notes Area

    • Notes now span the full width of the page for clearer annotations

  4. Merge Subset Halts

    • New “Merge Subset Halts” option in Dot Sheets

    • Halts are removed from the sheet and their counts folded into adjacent subsets

Timeline Enhancements

Keeping your focus on the action has never been easier:

  • Auto‑Scroll to Current Count

    • Playback automatically keeps the current count in view. Can be disabled under Edit → Options.
  • Auto‑Scroll to Set

    • Invoking Next/Previous Set (via the Drill menu or hotkeys) scrolls the timeline to the selected set

  • Improved Set & Subset Selection

    • Usability tweaks make double‑clicking in the timeline smoother and more reliable

      Larger Timeline Flags

3D Animation Upgrades

Visual realism is at the heart of EnVision v2:

  • Smooth Rotations

    • Performers now rotate fluidly between upper‑body direction changes over a single count

  • New Default Venue: Indoor Arena

    • Added to “custom” canvases—toggle scenery on/off to preview your show in a pro arena

Other Notable Improvements

  • Import JSON Drill Files

    • Seamlessly bring in drills you’ve exported previously

  • Improved Readability

    • Replaced bright green text throughout tool panels and tempo/count displays with a more legible hue

  • Cleaner Defaults

    • Performer name fields now start empty to reduce clutter

Website & Brand Unification

Our new site layout at box5software.com merges EnVision and EnGage conceptually:

  • EnVision remains the desktop powerhouse for creating and editing drill

  • EnGage (our mobile app) lets performers and staff view, learn, and clean drills on the go

  • More clearly unified under the Box5 Software banner

The unified design reflects our vision of a seamless workflow from creation to performance.
